Nothing Beats Lion Rock
when we comes to the hill views of Hong Kong, nothing beats Lion Rock. It just gets 495m metres in height but it’s really amazing for its spectacular 360° views from summit, smack in the centre of everything, the Kowloon peninsula stretches out beneath, beyond which, almost the entire length of Hong Kong island can be seen, from Sai Wan in the west, to Tai Koo Shing in the east, it is the best of the lot. On the clearest of days like today, it is even able to see the islands to the south of Hong Kong between the hills, as well as the Tsing Yi bridge and Lantau!
The Reasons that Lion Rock’s my first choice of hike
- Lion Rock is accessible from almost every direction and can be made the focus of many a hike in the area.
- There’s good indicator for any trails
- It’s not too difficult to the beginners
- Covered with the trees which provided the comfortable hiking experience
- Splendid spectacular 360° views
- It’s quite safe as there’s so many visitors even on weekdays

When you meet Monkey…
Don’t be surprised if you see a monkey claw next to you! When the monkeys get closed to you, don’t be panic, just pretend they didn’t exist and continue your walk quietly. Don’t ever try to stare at them in an unfriendly way and attack them or do something to get them away. As long as the monkeys are not attacked or frightened, they won’t raid you. In addition, avoid holding any plastic bag while hiking.
